Reinventing the Education System in Scotland
Scottish schools are taking a different approach by moving away from an exam-intensive curriculum to a more flexible and interdisciplinary one. Instead of regurgitating facts, students are encouraged to be more active learners. Developing higher-order thinking skills have taken on a greater importance in Scottish schools. With the new curriculum, teachers also have to be more creative in their teaching. After all, it is the 21st century. Rote learning simply does not cut it anymore and the Scots know it.
